Christina McCarthy

Christina McCarthy

Managing Partner, Operations

Christina is the Executive Director of One Mind at Work, a non-profit that brings together leading global employers committed to the mental health and wellbeing of their workforce. Christina came to One Mind at Work with over 15 years’ experience in the non-profit sector, focusing on building capacity and business strategy to support long-term sustainability and impact. She started her career in public health operations, and in her most recent role prior to One Mind at Work led the Corporate Partnerships unit at Columbia University’s Mailman School of Public Health. As Executive Director, Christina partners directly with One Mind at Work’s member organizations to assess current workplace mental health efforts and identify opportunities to improve existing programs and increase access and utilization.

 

Christina holds a master’s degree from Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs and a BA from Johns Hopkins University. She lives in Bay Head, New Jersey with her husband and two children.

Kathleen Pike

Kathleen M. Pike, PhD

Managing Partner, Science

Dr. Kathleen M. Pike leads the scientific and resource teams for the Mental Health at Work Index. Kathy has worked globally on the development and dissemination of evidence-based programs to address mental health needs in workplace, school, and clinical settings. She oversees The Mental Health and Work Design Lab at Columbia University, which has a long history of collaborating closely with a wide range of organizations – both nonprofit and for-profit, around the world – on targeted research reports, analytics models, survey instruments, and training programs. Kathy led the development of a mental health at work toolkit to support workforce mental health during COVID-19 and beyond, which has been downloaded over 25,000 times. She served as a scientific contributor to the 2022 World Health Organization Mental Health at Work Guidelines and is passionate about translating mental health science into practice. She provides scientific consultation, program development, workshops, and advisory guidance to organizational leaders who aspire to have real impact with innovative and improved mental health strategies and programs.

 

Kathy holds undergraduate and master’s degrees in psychology and international studies from Johns Hopkins University and a doctoral degree in clinical psychology from Yale University.

Craig Moss

Craig Moss

Managing Partner, Measurement & Change Management

Craig Moss leads the measurement and change management processes at the Mental Health at Work Index. Craig is Executive Vice President- Measurement at Ethisphere and a leading expert on using management systems to improve compliance and risk management performance within companies and across supply chains. He has developed and delivered programs to help companies measure and improve their performance on a wide range of ESG and compliance topics, including Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI), human rights and data privacy. He has worked extensively with Fortune 500 companies and private equity firms around the world to implement management systems to reduce supply chain risk and improve performance.

 

Craig was the chair for developing an ANSI standard for Intellectual Property Protection in the Supply Chain. He is currently Director at the Cyber Readiness Institute, where he develops programs to improve cybersecurity in small businesses by focusing on changing human behavior, and Director at the Digital Supply Chain Institute, where he develops change management programs to accelerate digital transformation. Craig was recently elected to the Executive Board for the Association of Professional Social Compliance Auditors (APSCA). He has published guides on implementing management systems to improve ESG and compliance for organizations including the World Bank Group’s International Finance Corporation and the United Nations.

David Ballard

David W. Ballard, PsyD, MBA

Senior Scientist

Dr. David Ballard is a psychologist and organizational consultant with more than 15 years of prior experience as a non-profit executive. David’s work focuses on organizational effectiveness, occupational health promotion, workplace mental health, program design and evaluation, and systems-level
workplace interventions. He has provided research, consultation, and training services to government agencies, industry groups, corporations, private equity firms, medical schools, and universities.

 

During his time at the American Psychological Association, David led APA’s Office of Applied Psychology, Center for Organizational Excellence, and Psychologically Healthy Workplace Program. He currently serves as Senior Fellow and Scientific Advisor for Workforce Mental Health at the Health Enhancement Research Organization (HERO) and is on the boards of directors for The Health Project, which presents the C. Everett Koop National Health Awards, and Sound Mind.

 

David chairs the Society for Occupational Health Psychology’s Practitioner Committee, co-chairs the Advisory Committee for The Carolyn C. Mattingly Award for Mental Health in the Workplace, and is a member of NIOSH’s Cross-Sector Council on Healthy Work Design and Well-being and the External Advisory Board for the Johns Hopkins P.O.E. Total Worker Health Center in Mental Health. He received his doctorate in psychology and his MBA in health services administration from Widener University.

Tait Michael

Tait Michael, MD

Associate Senior Scientist

Dr. Michael is a board-certified psychiatrist with 25 years of clinical, administrative, consulting, and teaching experience. She served as Chairman of the Department of Psychiatry at Norwalk Hospital for six years until January 2014 when she founded a consulting business in behavioral healthcare management. Dr. Michael transitioned in 2017 to Medical Director of Community Health for Western Connecticut Health Network and then to Vice Chair of Psychiatry for Nuvance Health. Prior to retiring from clinical work in 2021, she was appointed to the position of Endowed Chair, Community and Behavioral Health for Nuvance Health.

 

Dr. Michael remains active and interested in community health and advancing mental health and wellness in the workplace. She is married, has two children and enjoys masters swimming, fiber arts and restoring vintage sewing machines.

Sarah Tol

Sarah Tol

Director, Strategy

Sarah serves as a Director for One Mind at Work, a non-profit organization that brings together leading global employers committed to promoting mental health and wellbeing in the workplace. Prior to joining One Mind at Work, Sarah spent more than 15 years in healthcare leadership, predominantly focused on strategy and growth activities. Nearly 7 of those 15 years Sarah spent as a consultant, where she enjoyed developing meaningful relationships and driving impact. As a result of her personal lived experiences and observing the impact the workplace had on caregivers, Sarah has a deep passion for improving the mental well-being of workers.

 

Sarah holds a master’s degree from Virginia Commonwealth University in Health Administration and a BS from James Madison University. She lives in Napa, California with her husband.

Andrew Garber

Andrew Garber

Director, Technology

Andrew Garber is the Director of Operations for Ethisphere, a role he previously held at CREATe Compliance and the Center for Responsible Enterprise And Trade (CREATe.org). Most recently he was the Office Manager at the Sandia National Laboratories’ Washington, DC Program Office. While at Sandia, Andrew’s primary responsibilities included operations support for the Washington, DC Program Office, outreach to temporarily assigned Sandia employees in the Washington, DC area, and legislative support for the Sandia Government Relations team.

 

Prior to Sandia, Andrew was the Director of Operations for the U.S. House of Representatives, Committee on Ways and Means from 2006-2010. In this role he provided the day-to-day operations and IT support, drafted and managed committee’s biannual budget, and provided administrative and technical support for committee hearings. Additionally, Andrew served as Systems Administrator of U.S. Senator George Voinovich from 2002-2006.

 

Andrew has a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science from The Ohio State University.
